MedStar, Inc., a leading provider of medical imaging and diagnostic services, has been acquired by AstraZeneca, Inc. The deal will result in MedStar’s $8.8 billion in cash and $1.9 billion in common stock, according to an announcement from Astra.
The acquisition will enable Astra to accelerate the company’s transformation and strategic direction, Astra said in a statement.
Astra is the world’s largest provider of high-quality imaging and diagnostics, and has a strong network of more than 1,000 hospitals and medical centers across the country.
The Astra acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2019.
