RTE will launch a new Irish News network, Irish News, that will offer news and current affairs from Ireland.
It will be a one-hour news channel, with content that is based on news from Ireland and a focus on the Irish people, with an aim to build a broader international audience.
The channel will have content focused on Ireland and its people, including the Irish, Irish-owned and Irish-produced television networks.
The Irish News Network will be launched on the RTE app and on demand on mobile devices, with a focus to provide news to Irish audiences across the world, according to RTE CEO and chief executive Martin Breen.
RTE will also be launching a new TV channel, Irish TV, to be the Irish News TV channel.
The channel will be available on the mobile app and will feature a number of new Irish-based content including news, interviews, current affairs, music, arts and lifestyle and sport.
A new RTE online app for Irish-language viewers will also debut, and will bring Irish-related news, current events and other events.
RTE is also working on a digital Irish News website that will include an Irish-specific section.
The site will be developed by RTE’s Irish news team, including managing director of content, David O’Reilly.
The website will launch next year.
