4.6 million iPhone 5s users had the iPhone 5S on their phones during the month of November, with the largest increase coming from users in India, with a jump of more than 30,000, according to a new report from mobile analytics firm IDC.
The iPhone 5 S is the newest iteration of the flagship iPhone, launched in July, and the fourth-generation iPhone.
Its predecessor was released in September 2012, and its successor is due to be released in February.
The iPhone 5 is the best-selling phone in India and one of the most popular smartphones in the country.
India’s smartphone penetration is growing at an average of 1.2% a month, up from 1.0% in December, according IDC’s latest MobileMarkup survey.
India has also overtaken the US to become the second-most populous country, behind China.
Apple is now the world’s fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer with a market share of 10.3%, with revenues of $1.13 trillion (US$11.2 billion).
