Instant messaging services such as WhatsApp and Line are the most popular instant messaging apps for iOS and Android.
The apps are built around the premise of using your mobile phone as a keypad to send messages and text messages to others in the group.
But a new app called Hall Instant is designed to make that idea more than just a dream.
Hall Instant, launched last week, uses an algorithm to automatically detect if someone has been trying to send you a message or text message in a way that could potentially be harmful.
If you are not a member of the group, it automatically sends you a notification when a person tries to send a message.
If a member is already in the conversation, the message is ignored.
Hall Instant also uses an app called ‘Hall’, which is a mobile messaging app that has been used by thousands of users in the United States and Canada.
It has been downloaded more than 200 million times.
But it is the technology behind Hall that is being seen as potentially more dangerous than the original instant messaging app, Line.
“The real potential is that if we have a system where the people we’re communicating with are in the same room with each other, it’s possible to get them into a group of people who can then send messages,” Professor Travie T. Hall, a cybersecurity expert at the University of Sydney, told Al Jazeera.
“If that’s the case, the security risks to all these systems are much higher.”
He said there are some security features built into Hall Instant that could be used by malicious actors to infect the devices of innocent users.
“The potential to be able to remotely wipe the devices and wipe them clean, wipe out the system and then re-install itself is potentially very dangerous,” he said.
“This could be a lot more effective than trying to compromise the device itself, which we’ve seen before.”
He explained that the main feature of Hall Instant on iOS and Windows Phone is the fact that it has a password-protected “pass-to-group” feature.
“If you’ve used other instant messaging applications like WhatsApp and a number of other popular messaging apps, then you’re probably familiar with how you can say that password,” Professor Hall said.
“So what this means is that the password is a cryptographic hash of your phone, so that it’s encrypted.”
But it’s a hash that we don’t know, we don and we don of course don’t have access to it.
So that means if we wanted to take it, we wouldn’t be able get it from the other side of the world.
“So if we want to go on a message exchange, it is going to be encrypted and we have to get our password, and so we have all these steps to get the password.”
And this password has the potential to give us access to your phone and then you can send the message and then when the message gets delivered, it can be delivered to your person’s phone and that’s how we can get the message.
“For example, if you’re in a group with someone else who has access to another group, then your messages could be forwarded to the other group’s device without your knowledge.””

He added that it was also possible for an attacker to send the messages, and then receive them, without being detected.
Professor Hall said that the biggest security concern about Hall Instant was the ability for it to be used to impersonate other users.
He said that was a risk that was not yet understood, but added that the company was currently working on a way to improve the security of the system.
“There are a number things that are being worked on to make it more robust, and they’re not trivial,” he explained.
“We’ve worked on the ‘Ring’ protocol, which is designed for ring-type encryption, so we’re able to encrypt all of the messages.
But the real issue that we have is that there are so many ways that it can work.”
All of these methods have been designed to try and prevent attacks from taking place.
The most important thing we need to be doing is making sure that all of those attacks are prevented.
“He told Alijashad that while Hall Instant may have some security problems, it does have some “real-world value”.”
